Rama or Ramachandra is the seventh avatar of the Vishnu. Rama was born at the end of Treta yuga in Koshala kingdom. His father King Dasharatha and his mother Queen Kausalya. Ramachandra's guru was Rishi Vasishtha.

Rama's adventures, notably the slaying of the demon king Ravana, are recounted in Mahabharata and in Ramayana. Rama's brother and great companion was Lakshmana, son of Sumitra, while his loyal servant was Hanuman. Ramachandra went with an army of monkeys to Lanka to save his consort, Shree Sita, from king Ravana.
